There has been a big movement on the internet of individuals and groups who aren't technically qualified to offer medical advice to patients offering up information on the internet which isn't really that smart since those individuals usually don't have a license to practice medicine and yet they're almost engaging in medical marketing as if they did have a license to practice and could offer specific advice on difficult medical issues even though they've never been to medical school. It's a good idea not to take everything people say on the internet at face value.

There is a lot of training required of doctors to perform their functions in a normal hospital environment, but there are also things to consider regarding how a doctor might operate in times of emergency or evacuation such as when a hurricane forces people to leave their homes. To deal with the difficult prospect of treating people during a mass evacuation, doctors must be trained in triage where the most critical patients are visited first while less critical patients are helped by hospital staff that can operate portable devices like pulse oximeters, blood pressure monitors and other specialized portable machines.
